We demand a law for the protection of intersex children and adolescents!
VIMÖ has started a petition to the departments of Health, Justice, Family and Youth of the Austrian government.
Until today, intersex children and adolescents experience medical interventions that are neither self-determined nor necessary. Their bodies are surgically and hormonally altered from an early age – and this only because they do not fit into the medical and social norm of male or female bodies. This often leads to great suffering, trauma and physical discomfort.
We say:
Intersex children and adolescents have a right to physical self-determination! Austria must protect them effectively – and this can only be done with an appropriate law.
